Wisdom of Solomon
This original watercolor illustrates the Old Testament narrative about Solomon the King, who was historically regarded as a very wise ruler in Hebrew history. The illustration uses the animal of the owl as a placeholder for the king. The two bikering sparrows serve as the mother characters in the famous story. King Solomon must enact justice in the lives of two women. In the story, two potential mothers argue about who is the correct mother of the baby boy. One mother had lost her baby in the night, and one mother was the rightful mother of the live baby boy. But which mother had the right to the living son? King Solomon amazes the world with his cunning judgement. This illustration was originally commissioned for the children’s ministry space at Colorado Community Church. The digital file of the watercolor was converted into a vinyl wall sticker, used each classroom for teaching purposes. Enjoy the original watercolor on paper in your home!
